Opdenergy is a growing independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, United States and Latin America with more than 21 years’ experience. The company develops, builds, finances, manages and operates high quality renewable energy projects in several countries, with a portfolio of 2,6 GW (1,9 operational and + 0,7 ready to build / under construction) assets in operations and construction, whole portfolio under development sums up to over 18 GW.


We are looking for an experienced Energy Business Growth Lead to support Opdenergy’s growth strategy across existing and selected new European markets.


The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, assessing and advancing growth opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The position will have a particular focus on developing market-entry strategies and investment theses, originating opportunities, assessing new markets and establishing strategic relationships with local stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess growth opportunities across existing and selected new European markets.
  • Originate investment and development opportunities through local networks, partnerships and direct engagement with market participants.
  • Develop, structure and defend investment and market-entry theses based on regulatory, commercial, competitive and project-development considerations.
  • Monitor market dynamics, regulatory developments, competitive activity and industry trends to identify attractive opportunities and emerging markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, utilities, investors, advisors and other relevant industry stakeholders.
  • Evaluate opportunities across solar PV, onshore wind and BESS, considering their development, commercial and investment potential.
  • Lead and coordinate internal assessments with technical, legal, regulatory, financial and development teams.
  • Prepare business cases, market assessments, investment analyses and strategic recommendations for senior management.
  • Support commercial discussions and negotiations with developers, partners and other counterparties.
  • Contribute to Opdenergy’s geographic expansion strategy and long-term growth plans.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and high-quality market intelligence across priority geographies.


Experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience in business development, strategic growth, project development, investments or related roles within the renewable energy sector.
  • Previous experience within renewable energy developers, IPPs, utilities, infrastructure platforms, investment firms or energy-focused advisory businesses is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of European renewable energy markets, including their regulatory and commercial frameworks.
  • Proven experience assessing new markets, developing market-entry strategies and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Established network of relationships with developers and other relevant renewable energy industry stakeholders in one or more European markets.
  • Experience in Romania, Greece, the Baltics and/or Southeast Europe will be highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present compelling investment, growth or market-entry cases to senior decision-makers.
  • Experience originating and progressing opportunities from initial identification through assessment and negotiation will be highly valued.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate education, MBA or relevant energy/investment specialization will be considered an advantage.
