Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is Ontario’s largest clean, safe, and reliable electricity producer, generating roughly half of the province’s power through one of the most diverse energy portfolios in North America. OPG plays a foundational role in powering communities, enabling economic growth, and advancing Canada’s clean-energy future. The organization operates a mix of nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, biomass, and natural gas facilities and has been a global leader in decarbonization, including the closure of its last coal station - one of the world’s most significant climate-action milestones. OPG is actively investing in the next generation of energy solutions, including Small Modular Reactors, energy storage, and other low-carbon technologies, with a clear objective of achieving net-zero operations by 2040. With more than 10,000 employees across Ontario, OPG brings a long-term, stewardship-driven approach to building resilient energy systems and strong communities.

OPG is seeking an accomplished private markets investor to join one of Canada's most respected institutional investment platforms as Managing Director, Private Markets. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, this role offers the opportunity to shape long-term investment strategy across infrastructure, private equity, and private credit while contributing to the stewardship of capital that supports the retirement security of thousands of employees and the long-term obligations of Ontario's nuclear fleet.

This is a rare opportunity for an investment leader who is motivated not only by performance, but by purpose. At OPG, investment decisions are made with a long-term perspective and a clear connection to the organization's broader mission of helping power Ontario's future. The successful candidate will play a key role in deploying capital into sectors that underpin economic growth, energy transition, and critical infrastructure while balancing risk, sustainability, and enduring value creation.

As a senior member of the investment leadership team, the Managing Director will influence portfolio construction, strategic asset allocation, manager selection, and co-investment activity across a globally diversified private markets portfolio. The mandate combines intellectual challenge and meaningful autonomy, providing exposure to leading investment partners and high-quality opportunities while operating within a nimble and collaborative team environment.

Beyond the investment mandate itself, OPG offers an environment where leaders are empowered to make a lasting contribution. The organization combines the sophistication and scale of a major institutional investor with a culture that values integrity, inclusion, collaboration, and sustainable performance. It is a place where success is measured over years rather than quarters, and where thoughtful decision-making, strong relationships, and long-term stewardship are highly valued.

As the ideal candidate, you have demonstrated success in an investment role, delivering strong performance in a dynamic environment. You have a strong understanding of private markets (in particular, energy transition assets, private equity, and private debt) and the ability to quickly establish credibility, confidence, and trust, both internally and with external partners. You generate ideas to solve problems, take advantage of opportunities, and execute those ideas with excellence in collaboration with others. You also attract and mentor high-performing teams, focusing on engagement, continuous learning, and growth for the team. Your strong verbal and written communication skills enable you to relate complex concepts to key stakeholders across the organization effectively.

The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.
