Full Stack Engineer
oneshot.earth helps carbon markets operate faster, coordinate more easily and run more transparently. We focus on super-pollutants such as methane, where cutting emissions today has an outsized effect on near-term warming.
We run the Open Carbon Protocol (OCP), a new, data-first, transparent carbon credit registry. The OCP tracks projects and credits from issuance to retirement and connects to the wider market infrastructure, including marketplaces and meta-registries such as the Climate Action Data Trust. We work closely with standards bodies, project developers, VVBs, and intermediaries/buyers. Here are some good introductory articles to the carbon markets: “Voluntary Carbon Markets: Everything You Need to Know in 2026, Sylvera”, “What is the voluntary carbon market?, VCM Primer”
The role
We are hiring our first full-time, in-house Full-Stack Software Engineer to build the OCP registry and our internal tools, and to grow into owning them end-to-end. You will work with our Technical Product Manager and our part-time back-end engineer. Our fractional CTO will be on hand for the big architecture decisions. Over time, you will become the go-to technical voice in a team of carbon-market specialists.
- Employment: permanent, full-time (40 hours) employee of oneshot.earth B.V.
- Location: Netherlands, remote-first, with 1–2 office days a month at our co-working space at Norrsken Amsterdam
- Reports to: Technical Product Manager / Chief Product Officer
- Start: Immediate, up to January 2027
What you'll do
- Build and maintain the OCP registry and related tools across the stack: React/Next.js front end, Node.js/TypeScript APIs, PostgreSQL data model and AWS infrastructure.
- Turn product requirements into technical specs with our Product Manager, then build, test and ship them.
- Design and document secure, well-structured RESTful APIs, for our own front end and for external partners and integrations.
- Build integrations with market infrastructure, such as meta-registries (e.g. the Climate Action Data Trust), payment providers (e.g. Stripe) and partner systems.
- Help keep the platform reliable and secure: CI/CD (GitHub Actions), monitoring, backups, access control and performance
- Make sure registry data is accurate and auditable, because credits, issuances and retirements must be traceable.
- Review code and work closely with our part-time back-end engineer, and take on more architecture and ownership as you grow into the lead engineer role.
- Explain technical trade-offs and estimates to the team in plain language, with our fractional CTO as a sounding board.
What you'll bring
- 3–5 years building and running production web applications, with hands-on experience on both front end and back end
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript; Node.js (Express or similar) on the server and React (ideally Next.js) on the client
- Solid relational database skills: PostgreSQL schema design and SQL
- Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Route 53, SES) and CI/CD pipelines
- A good grasp of API design, plus habits around testing, code review and documentation
- Comfortable working independently in a small team: you can scope work, make sensible calls and flag risks early, and you want to take on more architecture and technical leadership over time
- Clear written and spoken English
- Based in the Netherlands
Nice to have
- Experience (or interest) in climate tech, carbon markets, registries, fintech or other systems where data integrity and audit trails matter
- Blockchain or distributed-ledger experience, or work with tokenised assets
- Some UI/UX sense: turning designs (e.g. Figma) into responsive, accessible interfaces
- Experience at an early-stage startup or in a small engineering team
- Dutch language skills
What we offer
- Salary of €65,000–€75,000 gross per year, depending on experience, plus 8% holiday allowance
- Equity in oneshot.earth
- A clear path to a lead engineer role, with mentoring from our fractional CTO and a salary review after 12 months
- Permanent contract with oneshot.earth BV
- 25 holiday days (full-time)
- Remote-first working with flexible hours; 1–2 office days a month, travel reimbursed
- Laptop and home-office budget
- Work that directly helps fix climate change, in a small team where you have real ownership and big growth opportunities
