Founding Software Engineer – Energy Technology (London, Hybrid)

We’re building software to support one of the defining infrastructure challenges of the coming decade: enabling better decisions across modern energy systems.

Our team is creating tools used by industry practitioners to analyse, plan, and operate increasingly complex electricity networks and markets. Demand for what we’re building is accelerating and we’re looking for an early engineering hire to help shape the next phase.

This isn’t a role centred around maintaining existing platforms or delivering predefined tickets. You’ll work closely with founders, own meaningful technical decisions, and help turn ideas into products from the ground up.

What matters to us:

Energy domain interest (high priority)

You’re excited by the energy space and ideally have exposure to electricity markets, optimisation problems, energy infrastructure, or operational systems.

A product-building mindset

You enjoy building software people rely on and are comfortable taking ideas through design and delivery.

Comfort with modern development workflows

You’re interested in using contemporary tooling, including AI-assisted workflows, to move quickly and build effectively.

Example areas of work:

  • Building product capabilities across frontend and backend systems
  • Designing APIs and scalable application architecture
  • Developing workflow tooling for operational and analytical use cases
  • Improving performance and computational efficiency
  • Building intelligent internal tools and user-facing features
  • Influencing technical direction and engineering standards

Why join:

  • High ownership from the beginning
  • Direct input into product and technical decisions
  • Small, collaborative team with strong ambition
  • Fast execution with limited bureaucracy
  • Work connected to long-term infrastructure transformation

Stack: Python • React • TypeScript • FastAPI • Cloud infrastructure • AI-enabled tooling
