Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

OGCI is a CEO led organization bringing together 12 of the largest energy companies worldwide to catalyze climate action in the oil and gas industry and accelerate the energy transition. The organization is comprised of six practice areas, one of which is the Net Zero Operations Practice, responsible for addressing emissions reductions from Scope 1 and 2 activities for both the OGCI and the Oil & Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC).

OGDC is a global, industry led initiative launched at COP28 to accelerate the decarbonization of the oil and gas sector and support the goals of the Paris Agreement through collective action, transparency and shared learning. OGDC is currently managed by the secretariat of OGCI.

The Net Zero Operations Practice manages the delivery of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative's Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction activities (methane emissions reduction and energy efficiency initiatives). Additionally, this practice manages the reporting and transparency efforts of both the OGCI and OGDC. The practice group consists of subject matter experts from the OGCI and OGDC member companies, who work together to define annual workplans which support each organization's strategy.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities (Intern)



Program Support & Delivery

The Net Zero Operations intern will work closely with the team on the day-to-day delivery across different workstreams (within the Net Zero Practice), depending on the needs, to deliver collective goals of the OGCI and OGDC.

Examples of potential tasks include:



  • Support with emissions data analysis efforts: The intern will work with the wider team to (1) analyse member companies GHG emissions data and decarbonization efforts (quantitative and qualitative information), and (2) conduct benchmarking and comparative analysis (including data visualisation) to support OGCI and OGDC ambitions.
  • Research public domain information on trends and company efforts (company sustainability reports, publications, third party reports, scientific papers)
  • Support the preparation and delivery of OGCI's flagship monitoriCH4 technology pilot and deployment efforts:). The intern will help the wider team to deliver smooth campaign operations by managing meeting coordination, preparing engagement materials, maintaining data tracking processes.
  • Prepare material and presentations to support the NZO practice's participation at events, presentations to executive leaders, and to technical audience.

We are looking for interns with the following competencies:

  • Ability to quickly grasp and understand new topics, subjects and themes
  • Ability to summarize and prepare executive level reports
  • Ability to work in a small and versatile team
  • Ability to multi-task, and to work collaboratively with the team to pool needs and actions plan.
  • Scientific mindset & data analysis competences
  • Proficiency in use of Excel & model competencies are welcomed.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral form

Previous experience / knowledge of:

  • Experience in / knowledge of climate change is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Energy sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of climate institutions & the climate agenda is advantageous

The ideal candidate will be undertaking a Bachelor or Master programme.

Additional information

  • Position is based in Central London, attendance rule is currently 3-days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential.
