Investment Director Energy Transition

ODM Partners have been retained exclusively to appoint a senior investor for a leading global infrastructure and energy transition investor.

The role sits within a dedicated investment platform focused on renewable energy and the broader energy transition. The team has access to multiple pools of capital with different return and duration requirements, providing the flexibility to invest across the energy-transition spectrum, from mature, long-duration renewable infrastructure through to higher-growth companies and platform investments.

The individual will take meaningful responsibility across both existing portfolio companies and new investment activity. The successful candidate will be expected to assume board responsibility, work closely with management teams and actively influence strategic, commercial and operational decisions, while continuing to contribute to origination, investment evaluation and transaction execution.

Key responsibilities

• Take senior ownership of portfolio companies and work closely with management teams to drive performance and delivery of the investment thesis.
• Act as an active board representative, influencing strategic, commercial, financial and operational decisions.
• Lead value-creation and platform growth initiatives, including development, operational improvement, capital allocation, follow-on investment and bolt-on M&A.
• Apply strong commercial and investment judgement across complex portfolio situations, including performance, risk and strategic trade-offs.
• Originate, evaluate and execute new investments across renewable energy and the broader energy transition.
• Contribute to Investment Committee discussions and broader portfolio and investment strategy.
• Manage relationships with CEOs, co-investors and other stakeholders across complex shareholder environments.
• Support junior investment professionals and contribute to a collaborative, high-accountability investment team.

Candidate profile

• Senior investment professional, ideally currently working within a GP environment, Direct-investing LP candidates who bring meaningful active ownership and board experience, and transferable roles within sizeable portfolio companies (Eg. CIO, HO M&A).
• Strong track record across both new investment activity and portfolio company responsibility.
• Substantive board-level experience, with clear evidence of influencing decisions and portfolio outcomes rather than acting as a passive participant.
• Proven investment capability across origination, evaluation, transaction execution and Investment Committee processes.
• Strong commercial and investment judgement, with the ability to assess complex situations, form an independent view and influence experienced stakeholders.
• Experience working directly with CEOs and management teams across strategic, commercial and operational matters.
• Relevant exposure to renewable energy and the broader energy transition, ideally across multiple technologies or business models.
• Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to assess new sectors and investment themes rather than being restricted to a single technology.
• Self-directed, collaborative and highly accountable, with the maturity to operate effectively within a lean, high-performing investment environment.
