Manufacturing Lead
Number 8 Bio is a venture-capital-backed start-up on a path to making a significant climate impact. We collaborate with farmers to enhance agricultural sustainability while boosting productivity. Our first products are innovative feed additives designed to eliminate methane emissions from the world's 2.6 billion cattle and sheep.
Methane, a greenhouse gas responsible for approximately ~30% of climate change, is more potent and shorter-lived than carbon dioxide. Eliminating man-made methane emissions is one of the fastest ways to combat climate change and ensure a sustainable future.

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Lead to join the team at Number 8 Bio. This full time role will help scope, design, and deliver the next iteration of Number 8 Bio’s manufacturing capability. You will work closely with science, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing operations, while laying the groundwork for future expansion.
- Define and execute the manufacturing strategy, including facility design, budgets, timelines, and scale-up plans
- Lead bolus and active ingredient manufacturing from pilot through to scaled production
- Develop and manage manufacturing budgets and refine cost of goods
- Oversee third-party manufacturing partners and external suppliers
- Establish and scale in-house active ingredient manufacturing processes
- Embed quality, safety, and compliance systems (e.g. GMP, HACCP, FeedSafe) in partnership with regulatory colleagues
- Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, packaging, and operations
- Support manufacturing-related grant applications and expansion planning

- Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in manufacturing or production environments
- Experience operating in regulated manufacturing settings (e.g. GMP or equivalent)
- Proven experience scaling products from concept or pilot to production
- Strong financial and project management capability
- Experience working with external manufacturers and suppliers (desirable)
- Experience in animal health or feed manufacturing is an advantage, but not required
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-focused
- Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on delivery
- Adaptable and effective in evolving start up environments
- Clear communicator who builds strong, trust-based relationships
