Senior Green Logistics / Low-Emission Transport Expert


NTU International is preparing a proposal for the EU-funded project “Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance”, which aims to strengthen sustainable, smart, resilient and safe mobility systems across the ECOWAS region in West Africa. The project will support ECOWAS institutions, Member States, and regional stakeholders in improving transport governance, corridor management, infrastructure planning, climate resilience, and regional connectivity.

The Technical Assistance will support the promotion of sustainable logistics systems, low-emission transport solutions, fuel efficiency measures, and environmentally sustainable transport practices across the ECOWAS region.

NTU International is seeking a Senior Green Logistics / Low-Emission Transport Expert to support sustainable logistics initiatives, low-emission transport strategies, and green mobility solutions across West Africa.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of green logistics and low-emission transport strategies and initiatives;
  • Provide technical assistance on sustainable freight systems, fuel efficiency measures, and environmentally sustainable transport solutions;
  • Support the promotion of low-emission vehicles, sustainable mobility practices, and green corridor initiatives;
  • Advise on transport decarbonisation strategies, emissions reduction measures, and sustainable logistics frameworks;
  • Contribute to the development of technical guidelines, policy recommendations, and operational frameworks related to green transport systems;
  • Support the integration of environmental sustainability and climate considerations into corridor management and transport planning initiatives;
  • Conduct assessments related to logistics efficiency, emissions reduction, and sustainable transport practices;
  • Coordinate with transport authorities, logistics operators, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and regional institutions;
  • Deliver workshops, technical training, and capacity-building activities related to green logistics and low-emission transport systems;
  • Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and analytical outputs related to sustainable logistics and transport decarbonisation initiatives.


Education

  • Master’s degree in transport engineering, logistics, environmental management, sustainable mobility, climate policy, or another relevant field.


General Professional Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in logistics, sustainable transport, green mobility, or environmental sustainability;
  • Proven experience working on transport or logistics projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Experience in international development cooperation and donor-funded programmes.


Specific Professional Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in green logistics, low-emission transport systems, or sustainable mobility initiatives;
  • Demonstrated experience with transport decarbonisation, fuel efficiency programmes, sustainable freight systems, or environmental transport policies;
  • Experience related to regional transport corridors, multimodal logistics systems, or corridor efficiency initiatives is considered an advantage;
  • Experience supporting projects financed by the EU, World Bank, AfDB, EIB, GCF, or other international financial institutions is considered a strong asset;
  • Experience working with transport operators, logistics companies, or public sector transport institutions is considered an advantage;
  • Experience integrating climate and environmental sustainability considerations into transport planning or infrastructure projects is considered an asset.

Languages

  • English or French (C1 mandatory);
  • Working knowledge of the other language is considered an asset.
