Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10 ($129,464 - $142,665 pa), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
The Manager, Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability is responsible for delivering a broad range of compelling, innovative, and evidence-based strategies, programs, and initiatives to build organisational capability and maturity across key functional areas, including infrastructure planning, asset management, sustainability and the transition to net zero, climate risk management, and security across NSW Department of Communities and justice (DCJ).
What You’ll Do
The Strategy, Innovation and Sustainability team is currently delivering a range of innovative, evidence-based strategic projects and initiatives to support the delivery of services and infrastructure across DCJ, including:
Applicants who meet the focus capabilities outlined in the role description and have a strong understanding of NSW Government’s climate strategies and policies, and experience working on delivering environmental or climate-related strategies, programs, or reporting—such as emissions reduction, climate risk management or resource management initiatives—will be highly valued.
What We’re Looking For
This role represents an opportunity to make a real impact by delivering projects that support priority government outcomes. It requires a high-level of leadership, the ability to work independently and to manage complex, time-sensitive projects with diverse technical and material information sources. An ability to engage with a range of senior stakeholders across DCJ and the NSW Public Sector to support the achievement of key strategic and operational objectives is essential.
The ideal candidates for this role should have strong problem-solving, analytical and influencing and negotiation skills and be adept at project management and stakeholder engagement with minimal oversight. An ability to explain technical information in a way that’s clear and easy to understand is desired.

- Enterprise and portfolio-level infrastructure strategies
- Place-based infrastructure plans for priority growth areas and precincts
- Workplace and accommodation strategies
- Fleet and mobility strategies
- Innovation fund programs
- Research papers exploring the impacts of key emerging drivers and trends.
