The Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement Group brings together strategic policy development, science, economics, data analytics, grants delivery and cross-government coordination to drive better outcomes for the people and environment of NSW. As a centre of excellence, the Group supports evidence-based decision making and the effective delivery of government priorities.
As a Senior Manager, you will lead operational teams responsible for the strategic delivery, administration and governance of a diverse portfolio of grant programs across DCCEEW. You will ensure compliance with the NSW Grants Administration Guide, Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Environmental Trust Act 1998 and other relevant legislative and policy requirements, while driving high-quality, transparent and customer-focused outcomes.

You will work with a diverse range of stakeholders including Ministers' Offices, local government, Aboriginal communities and organisations, research institutions, universities, industry partners, peak bodies, non-government organisations, landholders, and Commonwealth and State Government agencies to deliver strategic outcomes and maximise the impact of government investment.
Working at the intersection of strategy, governance and delivery, you will influence how government funding is invested to achieve meaningful environmental, cultural, heritage and community outcomes for current and future generations of New South Wales.
About you
You are an accomplished leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery.
You bring experience leading large and diverse teams, managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes through collaboration, influence and sound judgement.
You will demonstrate:
- Proven leadership of high-performing teams through change and growth.
- Experience delivering complex programs, portfolios or funding initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Sound governance, risk and financial management capability.
- The ability to navigate ambiguity and solve complex problems.
- A commitment to delivering public value and continuous improvement.
Experience in grants management is highly regarded; however, we also welcome applications from leaders with backgrounds in program delivery, infrastructure, regulation, policy, finance, procurement, assurance or complex operational environments.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or relevant equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to develop and implement systems and processes to underpin high quality governance, financial management and program delivery.
- Ability to plan and transition teams through change initiatives and evaluate progress and outcomes to inform future delivery.
