At DCCEEW, technology underpins how we protect the environment, manage water resources and drive the transition to a net-zero future. We are looking for a Digital Applications Developer to join the Microsoft Practice team. You will design, build and enhance applications using Microsoft Power Platform, Power Apps code apps and related Microsoft cloud services.

If you enjoy turning complex needs into secure, user-centred digital applications, working across the Microsoft product stack and improving how services are delivered, this role puts your development skills where they can make a real difference.

About the role

As a Digital Applications Developer, you will part of scalable digital solutions across the Microsoft product stack, working with stakeholders and multidisciplinary delivery teams to translate business needs into effective applications and services.

You will:

  • Design, build, test and deploy enterprise-grade digital applications using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Power Pages, as well as Power Apps code apps and related Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Work with business stakeholders, product owners, architects and delivery teams to understand requirements and translate them into practical, user-centred technical solutions.
  • Apply sound software engineering practices, including source control, automated deployment, testing, documentation, monitoring and secure development across the application lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between applications, data sources and services using APIs, connectors and appropriate integration patterns.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues, address defects and technical debt, and continually improve solution performance, maintainability, accessibility and user experience.
  • Contribute to technical standards, reusable components, platform governance and the Microsoft Practice roadmap, while sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on development role with real variety—from discovery and solution design through to build, release and ongoing enhancement and support. You will work across low-code and pro-code solutions, integrations and shared platform capabilities, balancing delivery outcomes with security, supportability and good governance.

About you

You don’t need to tick every box, but you will likely bring practical experience developing and delivering digital applications using Microsoft Power Platform and related Microsoft technologies. You’ll be comfortable working across low-code and pro-code approaches, with experience in application design, data modelling, integrations, testing, source control and deployment practices. You will understand secure development, accessibility and application lifecycle management, and be able to collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners. Relevant tertiary qualifications are welcome, but practical experience developing digital applications using Microsoft Power Platform and related Microsoft technologies is just as important.

Cyber security is everyone’s responsibility at DCCEEW. In this role, you will play an active part in protecting the Department’s digital resources and supporting a strong security posture.
