About the role
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Communications and Ministerial Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
The role supports the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS)’s Ministerial communication team, developing and coordinating Executive and Corporate correspondence. The role primarily manage the team mailbox by directing incoming and outgoing correspondence, as well as coordination of cross-branch input to requests for information, routine reports and returns. The role manages input to coordinated responses, particularly Parliamentary Notes and event packs across the agency and other department divisions.
About You
Your ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships to communicate complex, sensitive and controversial issues within urgent timeframes will be highly regarded in this role. You will interact with branches and assist them to provide quality and timely advice to the Executive and the Minister.
Your role is not just about communication; it's about identifying emerging issues, facilitating crucial decision-making processes and providing a clear voice for NPWS in the realm of environmental issues.
Essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in communication and correspondence protocols in a public sector environment, with specific reference to Ministerial liaison.
- Sound writing and editing skills, with demonstrated experience in the preparation of briefings, reports, recommendations or other written material.
- Understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks governing the public sector.
- Experience in developing and coordinating material to assist in effective communication and issues management in a complex, geographically dispersed organisation.
