About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and curious Funding & Partnerships Intern to work directly with NoviOcean’s Grants & Policy Manager. You’ll help identify, evaluate, and pursue grant and funding opportunities that support both our R&D efforts and commercialisation strategy.
This role offers hands-on experience in grant research, proposal drafting, and partnership development, giving you a front-row seat in the ocean energy innovation landscape.
You’ll contribute across several domains, including:

- Map relevant programmes aligned with NoviOcean’s technology roadmap;
- Track calls, eligibility criteria, deadlines, and co-financing requirements.
Proposal Development
- Assist in drafting concept notes, funding applications, and supporting documents;
- Coordinate inputs from technical and business teams;
- Prepare materials for internal review and partner submission.
Partnerships & Collaboration
- Help identify and reach out to potential research, industrial, and financing partners;
- Support the preparation of partnership profiles, MoUs, and due diligence;
- Participate in meetings with stakeholders and follow up on action points.
Policy & Research Support
- Conduct background research on funding frameworks, policy developments, and innovation ecosystems;
- Summarise findings and contribute to briefing notes for internal use.
What we’re looking for
- A self-starter with curiosity, initiative, and a “figure it out” mindset;
- Excellent research, writing, and organisational skills;
- Strong interest in renewable energy, particularly ocean energy;
- Fluency in English (additional EU languages a plus);
- Background in business, sustainability, economics, engineering, public policy or a related field;
- Bonus: Familiarity with EU funding instruments, climate policy, or proposal writing.
What You’ll Get
- Direct mentorship from NoviOcean’s team;
- Exposure to international funding landscapes and sustainable innovation policy;
- Flexible working hours and remote environment;
- Freedom to take ownership and lead small projects;
- A potential pathway to a long-term position as the company grows.
