About NoviOcean

NoviOcean is a cutting-edge cleantech company on a mission to harness the vast potential of offshore wave, wind and solar energy to accelerate the global transition to 100% renewable energy. Our innovative hybrid ocean energy technology is designed to be simple, scalable, and sustainable—contributing to both climate resilience and long-term ocean preservation.

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and curious Funding & Partnerships Intern to work directly with NoviOcean’s Grants & Policy Manager. You’ll help identify, evaluate, and pursue grant and funding opportunities that support both our R&D efforts and commercialisation strategy.

This role offers hands-on experience in grant research, proposal drafting, and partnership development, giving you a front-row seat in the ocean energy innovation landscape.

You’ll contribute across several domains, including:

Grant Research & Strategy

  • Identify national, EU, and international funding opportunities for research, innovation, and market deployment;
  • Map relevant programmes aligned with NoviOcean’s technology roadmap;
  • Track calls, eligibility criteria, deadlines, and co-financing requirements.

Proposal Development

  • Assist in drafting concept notes, funding applications, and supporting documents;
  • Coordinate inputs from technical and business teams;
  • Prepare materials for internal review and partner submission.

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Help identify and reach out to potential research, industrial, and financing partners;
  • Support the preparation of partnership profiles, MoUs, and due diligence;
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and follow up on action points.

Policy & Research Support

  • Conduct background research on funding frameworks, policy developments, and innovation ecosystems;
  • Summarise findings and contribute to briefing notes for internal use.

What we’re looking for

  • A self-starter with curiosity, initiative, and a “figure it out” mindset;
  • Excellent research, writing, and organisational skills;
  • Strong interest in renewable energy, particularly ocean energy;
  • Fluency in English (additional EU languages a plus);
  • Background in business, sustainability, economics, engineering, public policy or a related field;
  • Bonus: Familiarity with EU funding instruments, climate policy, or proposal writing.

What You’ll Get

  • Direct mentorship from NoviOcean’s team;
  • Exposure to international funding landscapes and sustainable innovation policy;
  • Flexible working hours and remote environment;
  • Freedom to take ownership and lead small projects;
  • A potential pathway to a long-term position as the company grows.
  • Please note: this is an unpaid position
