The Environment & Resilience Business Unit leads a diverse portfolio of environmental, sustainability and engineering services that help protect and enhance the Northern Beaches’ natural environment, community resilience and public infrastructure. The team delivers programs across climate change mitigation and adaptation, natural hazard management, biodiversity conservation, waterways and coastal management, environmental education and community engagement, development engineering, and the strategic management of Council’s stormwater network.
The Environmental Sustainability & Climate Change team is responsible for delivering climate change mitigation and sustainability programs, fostering community education and engagement, and managing Council’s two Environment Centres to provide high-quality environmental learning, outreach and community programs.

The key focus areas of this role include:
- Leading the Environmental Sustainability & Climate Change team on a strategic and day-to-day basis in a professional and positive way, seeking to position Council as a leader in the field.
- Develop, implement and review relevant policies and procedures to embed a whole of organisation approach to environmental sustainability.
- Lead Council’s Environment Centres in delivering professional, high profile and optimised programs to the local community.
