Norfund is seeking an experienced Investment Director to join our Renewable Energy team.


Our Renewable Energy team invests across utility-scale generation, transmission infrastructure, distributed energy solutions, and solar businesses. Through these investments, we increase access to clean energy while supporting economic growth and sustainable development in emerging and frontier markets.


As Investment Director, you will lead some of Norfund's most complex investment projects, including project development processes, restructurings, and value creation initiatives across our portfolio. You will lead multidisciplinary transaction teams, work closely with portfolio companies and investment partners, and contribute to the development of both investments and people within the Renewable Energy team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and originate new investment opportunities.
  • Lead the most complex investment processes from screening and due diligence through execution, portfolio management, and exit.
  • Assess investment opportunities with particular focus on commercial, financial, operational, and ESG risks.
  • Structure and negotiate complex transactions.
  • Manage strategic partnerships, restructurings, and value creation initiatives.
  • Oversee transaction teams and act as a sparring partner and quality controller
  • Represent Norfund on boards, advisory committees, and investment committees.
  • Contribute to the leadership and development of the Renewable Energy team, including coaching, mentoring, and potential people management responsibilities.
  • Help develop capabilities, foster collaboration, and strengthen team performance across the investment organization.


Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced investment professional with strong commercial judgement, leadership capabilities, and a passion for sustainable development.

The ideal candidate brings:

  • A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in private equity, infrastructure investing, project finance, investment banking, M&A, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading teams, developing professionals, and driving complex investment processes.
  • A strong track record in originating, executing, and managing equity investments.
  • Experience with restructurings, challenging investments, and value creation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of equity investments, debt instruments, financing structures, and security packages.
  • Excellent analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience within renewable energy is an advantage.
  • Experience working in emerging and frontier markets is an advantage.

Practical Information

The position is based in Oslo, Norway. A valid work permit for Norway is required. International travel is required.
