Can you help architect an AI-powered climate platform used for both personal insights and educational learning?

At Nordic Waves Group, we are building at the intersection of:

  • climate tech
  • AI-powered personalisation
  • educational gaming
  • climate literacy
  • digital learning experiences

Our Greenhouse Calculator is evolving beyond a traditional footprint calculator into a broader climate learning and engagement platform - with AI-generated insights, scalable API infrastructure, and future integrations into our Educational Gaming Universe.

As such, we are looking for a volunteer senior Fullstack Engineer to join the GHC team and help us scale and evolve a live climate-tech product already used by real users.

Location preference: Denmark first. Broader Europe accepted. CET timezone alignment required.

What we have:

  • a live platform (greehousecalculator.com)
  • active development teams
  • UI/UX direction
  • educational and scientific contributors
  • game designers and developers
  • roadmap and MVP planning underway

The technical challenge you would help us:

  • architect and scale the next generation of the Greenhouse Calculator
  • build AI/LLM-powered personalisation and recommendation systems
  • work with APIs and climate/emissions data infrastructure
  • support integrations between the calculator and educational game modules
  • contribute to scalability, monetisation, and future platform architecture
  • help shape technical direction and implementation strategy

Core stack

  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • React.js
  • Node.js / Express
  • REST APIs / API integrations
  • MongoDB

Bonus if you have experience with

  • AI/LLM integrations (LangChain or similar)
  • Stripe / LemonSqueezy or other payment systems
  • SaaS or startup product experience
  • Product monetisation/commercialisation experience
  • Experience coordinating or mentoring smaller dev teams

Who we think you are

  • You build and ship - not just discuss architecture
  • You enjoy technical ownership and solving real product problems
  • You can balance engineering thinking with product understanding
  • You are comfortable working in fast-moving and evolving environments
  • You are genuinely interested in meaningful digital products and climate-tech

Commitment

  • Volunteering approx. 5–8 hours weekly
  • Remote and flexible

What you get

  • Architectural ownership
  • Direct influence on product and technical direction
  • Opportunity to help shape a live climate-tech platform
  • AI/LLM and platform-level technical challenges
  • Close collaboration with founder and product teams
  • Fast execution cycles - from idea to implementation
  • Strong climate-tech and product portfolio experience
  • Opportunity to help build a broader climate learning ecosystem combining tools, games, and educational experiences
