About The Role

We are seeking a Carbon Project Lead to own carbon project development end-to-end — from methodology application and project design, through MRV and verification, to issuance. You'll work closely with a highly motivated team with competences in commercial, forestry, IT and finance, and play a central role as we scale into new markets and standards. The core mission of this role: designing nature based projects that meet verification requirements.

About Noora

Noora is a Norwegian-based carbon project developer, focused on developing high-integrity forest carbon projects across Northern Europe. Based in Oslo, we combine rigorous carbon accounting with state of the art technology and a commercially scalable approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of carbon projects from concept through to credit issuance
  • Draft and lead the writing of Project Design Documents (PDDs)
  • Design projects that are coherent with the chosen standard and methodology (e.g. Verra)
  • Build and own the MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) plan, acting as MRV lead
  • Manage the verification and validation process, including relationships with validation/verification bodies (VVBs)
  • Manage project timelines, risks, and dependencies across a cross-functional team
  • Support the evaluation of new markets, geographies, and standards as Noora scales
  • Translate technical carbon accounting work into clear input for investors and the board
  • Quantify and calculate carbon capture and be able to explain and defend its conclusions.

Qualifications & experience

  • 5+ years of experience in carbon project development
  • Relevant education: MSc or equivalent in a field such as bio-economics, natural capital markets, or carbon/environmental science.
  • Experience developing carbon projects; familiarity with VM0045, Verra, and Nordic forests is a plus
  • A track record of writing PDDs
  • Hands-on experience in Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV), ideally having built an MRV plan or acted as MRV lead
  • Experience working across multiple carbon standards (e.g. Verra/VCS, Gold Standard, ACR, CAR) is a plus

Profile

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to run multiple workstreams without heavy process
  • A strategic, helicopter-view mindset combined with a hands-on approach
  • Analytical, comfortable working with numbers
  • Self-driven, able to take initiative
  • Flexible able to work from home as well as travel occasionally and spend time in Oslo
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities, as expected in a startup
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical carbon concepts to non-technical stakeholders

What we offer

  • Real ownership of carbon project development at a company shaping a new market
  • Direct exposure to leadership, investors, and the technical frontier of forest carbon
  • Room to grow as we scale across Northern Europe — this role will grow with the company
  • A flat, low-ego team where your input shapes decisions from day one, not just your task list
  • Genuine flexibility: work from home, from Oslo, or split your time, we care about output not facetime.
  • A social team culture
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • The chance to build something with lasting environmental impact, backed by NORSKOG, Innovation Norway, the Research Council of Norway, and others who believe in the mission
