Volunteer Finance Manager

Apply now

No More Waste Technologies is looking for a Volunteer Finance Manager to join our growing team as we prepare for MVP launch and fundraising round.

We are building SaveGoodFood, a platform designed to reduce food waste and improve access to affordable food by connecting surplus from businesses to consumers and charities.

We were recently admitted into the National Climate Tech Accelerator (NCTA) programme, supported by Sustainable Ventures and Barclays Eagle Labs, marking a significant milestone in our journey as we scale our impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a high-impact finance leadership role within an early-stage startup tackling real-world problems.

This is a voluntary role at this stage as we prepare for fundraising. We are looking for someone motivated by impact, learning, and building something meaningful, with a clear pathway to a paid senior position after funding.

Responsibilities:

• Lead financial planning and budgeting as we approach launch

• Build and refine financial models to support fundraising

• Support investor readiness (deck inputs, financial projections, data room)

• Implement basic financial controls and reporting processes

• Lead in automating and stress testing our own ERP system/financial reconciliation system linked to marketplace platform to reduce month-end/year end reporting.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience of senior financial management and strategic leadership gained in either the public or private sector

• Strong experience with financial modelling, forecasting, reporting and financial control

• Ability to operate in a startup environment (hands-on, adaptable)

• Interest in sustainability, social impact, or climate tech

• Bonus: experience with fundraising, ERP systems, or early-stage startups

First 90 Day Focus

  • Build a clean, working financial model (P&L + cash flow)
  • Support fundraising readiness (numbers, assumptions, narrative)
  • Identify key cost drivers and revenue levers
  • Introduce basic financial tracking and reporting discipline

Benefits:

• Opportunity to transition into a paid role post-funding + potential equity

• Gain real startup experience and exposure to fundraising

• Work directly with the Founder and leadership team
