About Us
We are building SaveGoodFood, a delivery-first platform that rescues surplus food from restaurants, supermarkets, and other food businesses, redistributing it to consumers and charities in real time.
Our mission is to reduce food waste, improve access to affordable food, and create measurable environmental and social impact through technology.
The platform is now live, and we are preparing for commercial launch, merchant onboarding, and fundraising. We are supported by Barclays Eagle Labs and Sustainable Ventures’ National Climate Tech Accelerator (NCTA) programme.
About the Role
As our Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the finance function during this critical pre-seed stage. You will design and build the financial infrastructure that will support our scaling, secure funding, and eventual revenue operations. This role particularly suits a hands-on, decisive finance leader who has successfully rescued or turned around businesses, managed operations with very limited resources, and has the proven ability to reduce noise and chaos by bringing structure, clarity, and calm to fast-moving, early-stage environments. This is a high-impact founding role with significant equity upside.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial strategy, modelling, and fundraising preparation
- Design and implement core financial systems (settlements, reconciliation, ERP logic)
- Build investor-grade financial models, forecasts, and reporting
- Oversee cash flow management and unit economics
- Advise on financial compliance, governance, and risk management
- Work closely with the CEO and Commercial team on pricing, revenue models, and commercial policy
- Help prepare the company for paid operations post-funding
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent senior finance experience
- Strong background in startup finance, financial modelling, and fundraising
- Experience implementing financial systems (ERP, reconciliation payment settlements)
- Passion for sustainability, climate tech, or social impact
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, volunteer-led environment
- Previous startup or scale-up experience is highly desirable
