Sustainability Analyst
This role is based out of Arizona
Nikola is seeking a Sustainability Analyst to join our team at our Headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. This position requires a motivated person who is eager to learn and grow with the organization and brings the knowledge required in Sustainability. You should be someone who enjoys new challenges, is able work under pressure, and can handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. You have very high personal and professional values, attention to detail, strong work ethic and a positive attitude. This role reports to the Head of Sustainability.
- Collaborate on communication materials related to sustainability, such as newsletters, content for social media and presentations.
- Work closely with Nikola’s Head of Sustainability on integrating sustainability practices into operations across the enterprise.
- Assist with data collection on 100+ environmental, social and governance metrics for internal and external reporting.
- Assist with synthesis of climate data and execution of greenhouse gas inventory management system.
- Use our GHG management platform to assist with calculations, mapping, and publishing of our carbon footprint that will be used for carbon measurement, management, and reporting.
- Analyze data and metrics to measure program effectiveness and progress against sustainability objectives, optimize program performance, develop key performance indicators and define other qualitative findings.
- Work with key stakeholders throughout Nikola to deliver timely data in our ESG repository software.
- Conduct initial internal review for sustainability data to ensure completeness or accuracy of data provided by other teams.
- Build and customize dynamic reports, narratives and dashboards on sustainability data.
- Track sustainability recognition and award opportunities.
- Attend or provide support on outreach, community engagement, and special events.
- Respond to customer or business unit requests for sustainability data and insights.
- Bachelors Degree
- Must have at least 1-3 years of sustainability experience
- Must have experience in PowerPoint and Excel
- Passion for and basic to moderate knowledge of sustainability
- Basic to moderate understanding of the sustainability reporting landscape and the key reporting frameworks
- Experience/Understanding ESG principles and related regulations.
- Ability to develop clear, concise, and compelling materials for internal stakeholders and communicate through a variety of vehicles (emails, presentations, infographics, etc.)
- Ability to communicate complex subject matter in business terms, taking technical information and making it digestible
- Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills; able to work in a highly matrixed global environment while balancing multiple priorities
- Resourceful with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to embrace ambiguity and to be nimble given shifting priorities and challenging business landscape
- Be willing and able to travel domestically as needed (~10-20%)
- Highly motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and with a team
