Analyst, Energy Finance and Strategy

Role:
Nikola is seeking high caliber candidates to join its Energy Finance and Strategy team. The firm is looking for both entry-level and experienced hires to join at the analyst or associate level, depending on experience. Nikola is based in Phoenix, AZ.

About Nikola:
Nikola Corporation (NASDAQ: NKLA) is a clean energy transportation company focused on providing battery- and hydrogen fuel cell-powered commercial transportation solutions. Nikola through its “HYLA” brand, is also developing a hydrogen refueling ecosystem.

About the team:
Nikola’s Energy finance and strategy team is led by former private equity and investment banking professionals who have a proven track record of professional excellence and execution. This is an opportunity to join a team at the ground floor as Nikola works to build and expand the hydrogen fueling ecosystem. The Energy Finance and Strategy team reports directly to the Energy CFO, and will play a pivotal role in developing strategy, evaluating investment/partnership opportunities, ensuring operational execution, and supporting any other energy related ad-hoc projects.

This team is high-achieving and dynamic. The organizational structure is flat, giving junior employees the opportunity to interface with key executives, various department heads, and other key company leaders.
Responsibilities:
  • Support development of energy strategy including ad-hoc business case / strategic analysis, financial modeling, data management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support development / implementation of operational processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness throughout the energy organization.
  • Assist with preparation of strategic presentation materials for the board of directors, senior leadership, and other external parties
  • Support M&A and partnership-related activities within Nikola’s energy business.
  • Any other activity that may be required from time to time related to energy operations or hydrogen ecosystem development
Qualifications:

The right candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, work well independently, have a strong ability to manage time efficiently and multi-task, anticipate and proactively respond to problems, and come with a strong work ethic.


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Proven academic and professional achievement
  • Internship or full-time experience at Big Four accounting firm, investment bank, private equity firm, M&A advisory firm, or other relevant experience involving financial analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint Skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
