Programme Manager (Internal GJNH Employees only)

Green Healthcare Scotland is leading the national transition toward a net-zero, climateresilient health service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Programme Manager to oversee, assure, and drive delivery of this ambitious national programme across NHS Scotland.
This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in transforming how healthcare is deliveredreducing emissions, improving environmental performance, and supporting sustainable models of care that improve outcomes for patients, staff, and communities.
What You’ll Do
As Programme Manager, You Will
Provide strategic oversight of programme delivery across all NHS Boards, ensuring alignment with national climate policy and NHS Scotland’s Net Zero strategy.
Lead programme planning, risk management, benefits realisation, and performance reporting.
Assure the quality and consistency of programme outputs, data, and governance across regions and clinical specialties.
Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, clinicians, operational teams, Scottish Government colleagues and delivery partners.
Support the development and spread of sustainable healthcare initiatives, including lowcarbon clinical pathways, greener theatres, estates decarbonisation, circular economy actions, and adaptation planning.
Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and increased efficiency across the programme portfolio.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
Proven experience in programme or project management of significant scale and complexity.
Strong organisational, analytical, and governance skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence at senior levels.
A commitment to climate action and sustainable healthcare.
Experience working within NHS Scotland or a large publicsector organisation (desirable but not essential).
Relevant programme/project management qualifications (e.g., MSP, PRINCE2, Agile) are welcomed.
