About neuroGrid

neuroGrid is a well-funded startup building a next-generation SaaS platform to accelerate the development of modern, low-cost power plants and AI infrastructure, including data centers, solar, wind, battery storage, nuclear, and transmission.

Energy is the world’s largest and most critical industry—and it’s undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation driven by rapid AI datacenter expansion. Our AI-powered platform is built to meet this moment. By transforming fragmented data, manual workflows, and institutional knowledge into a single intelligent work orchestration system, we help energy and data center developers move faster, reduce costs, and make better decisions.

Our product strategy is intentionally broad and ambitious, supporting users across multiple domains—land control, interconnection, permitting, engineering, finance, stakeholder engagement, and more.

The Role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong product instincts and a track record of owning systems that materially move key business and customer outcomes.

You will serve as a senior technical leader within our Bengaluru engineering team, responsible for designing and delivering data-heavy, workflow-oriented software with applied AI at its core. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teammates across India and the United States to architect systems, ship end-to-end features, set engineering standards, and mentor other engineers as we scale our platform.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment, enjoys hands-on ownership, and is excited to help build both the product and the engineering culture from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Lead design and implementation of core platform services, data models, and workflow engines.
  • Make architecture decisions that balance delivery speed, reliability, and long-term scalability.
  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices across code quality, testing, observability, and security.

Systems Engineering & Data Infrastructure

  • Apply strong systems fundamentals (concurrency, transactions, indexing, caching, consistency) to ensure correctness and performance across complex data workflows.
  • Build operationally excellent services with proper monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with AI-focused engineers to integrate LLMs, vector search, and orchestration tools into production workflows.

End-to-End Delivery

  • Own features from idea through production: scoping, design, implementation, code review, deployment, and iteration.
  • Partner with Product and Design to translate customer workflows into elegant, performant solutions.
  • Work across the stack as needed, with a primary focus on backend, data, and workflow orchestration.

Mentorship & Culture

  • Mentor and support other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Contribute to a culture of high ownership, humility, and collaboration.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Customer & Business Impact

  • Engage with customers and early users to understand real-world workflows and validate assumptions.
  • Use feedback and data to prioritize work that drives meaningful product and business impact.

Requirements

  • 7–12 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience in complex, data-heavy enterprise or workflow-oriented SaaS products.
  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one major system or product area that delivered clear business impact.
  • Strong experience building data-centric applications, including relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience delivering applied AI in production environments, such as integrating LLMs, vector search, and RAG-based workflows.
  • Proficiency with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous, early-stage environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across cultures and time zones.
  • Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru on a full-time basis.

Bonus

  • Experience with energy sector workflows (utility-scale renewables, data centers, grid infrastructure, transmission).
  • Strong proficiency with React + TypeScript on the front end and Python or Node.js on the back end.
  • Background in geospatial data systems, enterprise document management, or SaaS integrations.
  • Familiarity with secure-by-default enterprise SaaS design and compliance-aware architectures.
  • Prior startup or early-stage experience, particularly in B2B SaaS or AI-native products.

Compensation & Growth

  • Competitive cash compensation and meaningful equity in a fast-growing climate-tech startup.
  • As a senior member of neuroGrid’s Bengaluru engineering team, you will have significant ownership and influence over the technical direction of the platform.
  • Clear opportunities for growth as the company, customer base, and engineering organization scale.

How to Apply

If you are excited to architect and build AI-native, data-heavy software from the ground up and want your work to help accelerate the global energy transition and AI infrastructure buildout, we would love to hear from you.
