General Manager
Job Title: General Manager – Solar PV Installation Business
Location: Oxford/Oxfordshire
If you're ready to take full ownership of a growing business rather than simply manage part of one, this is an opportunity to make a genuine commercial impact. You'll lead a successful regional renewable energy operation, combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational excellence to deliver outstanding customer outcomes while driving sustainable growth.
This is a role for someone who enjoys making decisions, building high-performing teams and seeing projects through from initial enquiry to successful installation. Backed by an ambitious leadership team and established central support functions, you'll have the autonomy to shape regional success while benefiting from the resources of a rapidly expanding national group.
Why this role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take full responsibility for the financial performance, operational delivery and long-term growth of your region. You'll have ownership of the P&L, lead a talented team and ensure every installation meets the highest standards of quality, compliance and customer satisfaction.
Operating within a fast-paced buy-and-build business, you'll play a pivotal role in scaling operations while maintaining the high standards that have built the company's reputation. Collaboration is at the heart of the culture, with experienced central teams providing support whenever it's needed.
What you'll do
You'll oversee every stage of the regional operation, ensuring sales opportunities are converted into profitable, efficiently delivered renewable energy projects. From protecting margins and managing cashflow to overseeing installation schedules and supplier relationships, you'll balance commercial performance with exceptional operational delivery.
Working closely with your Installation Manager and Quantity Surveyor, you'll ensure solar PV, battery storage, EV charger and heat pump installations are delivered safely, on time and to the highest industry standards, including MCS, NICEIC, G98/G99 and BS 7671 compliance. You'll also build and develop a high-performing team across sales, surveying, installation and administration, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellent customer service. Alongside this, you'll provide clear operational and financial reporting, ensuring robust governance, accurate CRM management and informed decision-making.
About the company
Our client is a well-funded and rapidly expanding renewable energy installation group with an ambitious national growth strategy. Through a series of successful acquisitions and continued investment, the business is on course to triple its revenue over the next two
years. Despite this impressive growth, the organisation has retained an entrepreneurial culture where initiative is recognised, decisions are made quickly and talented leaders are empowered to make a real difference. The focus remains firmly on delivering high-quality residential and commercial renewable energy solutions while helping accelerate the UK's transition to low-carbon technologies.
About you
You'll already have experience leading a branch, business unit or operational division with full P&L responsibility. A background in solar PV, renewable energy or residential services would be highly advantageous, although your commercial mindset, leadership capability and operational expertise are what will set you apart.
You'll be confident leading people, comfortable working with CRM and business systems, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences. Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and a full UK driving licence are essential for success in this role.
Rewards & growth
Alongside a competitive salary of £70,000–£90,000 + equity and a performance-related bonus, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of a growing regional business within one of the UK's most exciting renewable energy groups. As the organisation continues to expand, so too will your opportunities for progression, influence and long-term career development.
How to apply
If you're an ambitious operational leader ready to drive growth, lead exceptional teams and play a key role in the future of renewable energy, we'd love to hear from you.
