(Senior) Project Manager, Renewable Processes
to our Renewable Processes team in Porvoo to lead technology development and/or refinery support projects.
We have a compact size team of experts working in the Renewable Processes team in the Process Technology function. Our team is responsible for the development of the NEXBTL technologies and supporting production facilities through R&D and technology development projects. NEXBTL is our proprietary HVO technology for production of hydrocarbons from renewable oils and fats for fuels, polymers and chemicals.
You will work closely with production site representatives, technology experts, engineering disciplines, R&D, modelling experts, business stakeholder and other internal/external stakeholders to accomplish Neste’s strategic goals. You will report to Manager, Renewable Processes and steering managers in matrix in Porvoo.
As a Project Manager you will be in a key role in contributing to Neste's journey to become global leader in renewable and circular solutions!
The job is located in Kilpilahti, Porvoo, which is about 30 minutes by car from the center of Helsinki. We organize free bus transportation to Kilpilahti for our employees from the capital region, Porvoo and the nearby areas. It is possible to work partly remotely through our hybrid working practice.

Your role in our team
Scope technology development or refinery support project with steering manager and subject matter experts to align targets and deliverables
Manage project(s) safely within scope, schedule, budget, and quality using the Neste operating model
Control and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and cost
Report project progress and performance transparently according to established principles
Validate results to deliver high-quality outcomes with clear business value and synthesize complex outcomes into clear proposals
Drive concrete improvement proposals to add value to production and support business decision-making
Reserve competent resources, lead team members, build team spirit, and coach technical experts
Provide technical subject matter expertise
Continuously refine and develop project practices and ways of working
Keys to success in this role
M.Sc. or D.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
5+ years of experience in process design, process development, or production within refining, biorefining, or chemicals
Proven project management experience (or similar) within technology development or R&D
Hands-on knowledge of renewable feedstock pretreatment or HVO technologies
Excellent organizing, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
Solid capability to balance strategic big-picture thinking with crucial technical details
Effective stakeholder management and strong interpersonal skills
Safety and business-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous operational improvement
High motivation for digitalization and leveraging AI tools
Willingness to take ownership, high motivation, and commitment
Eagerness to learn and fluent written and spoken English skills
