Committee Members: Investment Committee and ESG Committee
A leading South African real estate investment business is seeking to appoint three external members to its Investment Committee, and three external members to its ESG Committee. They are expanding into the US and Europe and are looking for Investment Committee and ESG Committee members from both areas. These committees play a central role in evaluating, advising on, and approving investment opportunities, ensuring that decisions align with the organization’s strategic, financial, and governance objectives.
Skills and Expertise Sought
We are seeking seasoned professionals with strong track records in one or more of the following areas:

Candidates should demonstrate deep understanding of market cycles across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors and a proven ability to assess and structure complex property investments.
- Financial Acumen & Fund Management: Advanced financial analysis and valuation skills, ideally supported by qualifications such as CFA or equivalent. Experience in fund management, capital allocation, or portfolio oversight would be highly regarded.
- Strategic Vision & Sector Knowledge: Proven ability to align investment decisions with long-term strategic objectives. This may include former CEOs or senior executives with experience in real estate development, investment strategy, or growth planning.
- Environmental Sustainability & Climate Expertise: Specialists in green building, climate risk, or environmental management within real estate. Ideal candidates may hold LEED, BREEAM, or similar accreditations and bring proven experience in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, or climate adaptation strategies for property assets.

Candidates may have served as non-executive directors, governance advisors, or compliance leaders in financial or real estate sectors, ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability in ESG oversight.
- Impact Investing & Sustainable Finance: Practitioners or investors skilled in sustainable finance, impact measurement, and ESG integration. Expertise in frameworks such as the UN PRI, GRESB, or sustainable finance taxonomies will be highly valued.
