Climate and Energy Policy Analyst

Navius Research, Inc. is a Vancouver-based consulting firm of environmental-economists who conduct cutting edge modeling for high profile clients across Canada. Our work plays a key role informing the development of energy and climate change policy. We are looking for an analyst with strong quantitative skills to help maintain, operate and improve our modeling tools.
The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 annually.
Your responsibilities
- Work directly with senior staff to support the development, maintenance and operation of Navius’ gTech computable general equilibrium and linear optimization models
- Review, interpret and troubleshoot quantitative results
- Draft reports, memos and presentation decks for clients, translating complex modeling results into key insights
- Assume, within a reasonable amount of time, project management roles including liaising with clients and ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget
Your talents
- Strong quantitative skills in one or more of the following areas: CGE modeling, GAMS, MPSGE, linear optimization, non-linear programming, visual basic for applications, statistics, balancing large datasets
- Knowledge of Canada’s System of National Accounts and input-output tables
- An understanding of Canada’s energy system (focus on a particular area, such as electricity, buildings or oil and gas, is okay)
- An understanding of policy to influence energy consumption or to achieve environmental outcomes
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with an ability to distill and convey complex technical information
- High integrity and ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines
- Driven and motivated to create a positive impact for the future of energy and climate policy in Canada
- Degree in economics, environmental studies, engineering, computer programming or related discipline
