Position details: Full Time Contract (8 months)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Natural Area Manager leads the coordination and delivery of all stewardship activities as outlined in the applicable Management Plans for the property as well as applicable activities identified within the Natural Area Conservation Plan for the Milk River Basin. Stewardship activities include but are not limited to management and oversight of the grazing program, including both cattle and the Plains Bison herd (e.g., planning, administration of lease agreements, invoicing, pasture riding, and maintenance/repair of infrastructure (fences, water system)), partnership and stakeholder engagement, coordination of research, property inspections, managing public access requests, and supervision of external contractors. Additionally, the Natural Area Manager will oversee the general upkeep and maintenance of the facilities at the property.


Position Requirements

  • Successful completion of a technical diploma or degree in Agriculture, Biology/Ecology, or other related discipline
  • 1-2 years of directly related experience
  • Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of ranching and agriculture
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan’s flora and fauna, and direct experience with land management techniques
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with neighbors, grazing patrons. donors, Indigenous communities and other stakeholders
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with GPS systems and technology associated with field-based mapping, as well as MSOffice, MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint etc.
  • Commitment to the core values and mission statement of NCC
