Position Summary


The Manager Human Resources provides leadership and human resources expertise to national and regional managers as well as to employees across Canada. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the incumbent will be responsible for counselling employees in both official languages regarding HR legislation, systems, policies and processes as well as industry best practices, EDI with a focus on employee experience.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Provides advice to employees on the content and interpretation of the HR Policy and on various HR legislations
  • Counsels and coaches leaders and managers providing proactive guidance and direction on employee related issues from talent acquisition to performance management
  • Conducts HR orientation to management up to the executive level.
  • Responsible for ability management for employees on both workers compensation and short/long-term disability, ensuring that regular communication occurs, and that appropriate medical documentation is received.
  • Supports the performance review process and contributes to the development of talent management in conjunction with peers and helps in facilitation of leadership coaching.
  • In collaboration with peers ensures the effective and efficient administration of the performance management process making sure that NCC managers are equipped to engage in constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching as well as encouraging employees to actively participate in identifying and addressing performance gaps
  • Works with managers on staffing plans including recruitment strategies for hard to fill and senior roles and advises on full-cycle recruitment steps with an EDI lens
  • Helps in identification and facilitation of internal career progression for employees
  • Develops and delivers EDI trainings in French
  • Act as the HR liaison on EDI and Indigenous engagement initiatives


Skills and Abilities


  • Fluently bilingual in English/French (written and verbal) required;
  • University Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience at least two of which have been in a Human Resources leadership position with HR generalist responsibility including benefits;
  • Experience working in a national organization is a definite asset;
  • Demonstrated experience working on EDI and with senior-level leadership in bringing about positive, meaningful and sustainable organizational change and producing measurable results.
  • CHRP or CHRL Certification;
  • Knowledge of provincial employment legislation and practices across Canada;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills related to MS Office: Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint;
  • Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization;
  • Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills;
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated track record of dealing with sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy and confidentiality
