NRDC is seeking a Senior Recruiter to work with the Human Resources team, headquartered in our New York office. This position will report to the Director, Talent Acquisition.

Position Summary

The successful candidate should excel working in a highly collaborative environment and offer partnership and innovation to Talent Management efforts and HR organizational goals. In addition to managing a rotating portfolio of senior-level and complex job requisitions, the Senior Recruiter will work closely with HR Leadership, HR Partners and hiring managers to build a comprehensive and creative candidate pipeline that ensures adherence with our recruitment objectives, including NRDC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensuring that our employment opportunities are reaching all qualified candidates for equal consideration. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience and a track-record of success in building solid pipelines of candidates to meet organizational goals, has cultivated relationships with a deep and diverse pool of well-qualified potential candidates particularly in the environmental and advocacy fields, can leverage multiple recruiting sources and internet sourcing techniques to identify candidates, executes effectively on outreach and referral generation, and will create custom outreach and meaningful candidate engagement.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with hiring managers and HR Partners to build effective recruitment strategies for the full lifecycle of the search including sourcing, recruiting, pre-screening, assessing, and presenting high caliber talent pools for selection, guiding managers through interview and selection, communicating and facilitating interview panels, negotiating and delivering employment offers and shepherding transition to onboarding, all while advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion at every stage throughout the process.
  • Cultivate a thorough understanding of programmatic needs of each client group to successfully create an overall aligned talent strategy that provides effective and creative sourcing strategies to achieve manager expectations.
  • Manage candidate expectations and communicate with talent throughout the recruitment and hiring process to deliver a best-in-class candidate experience.
  • Work with HR Leadership and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to build an effective and diverse talent pipeline and sourcing strategy for roles at all levels that affirms NRDC culture and objectives, brings access to all individuals, and attracts and retains the most qualified candidates. This should include building strong external partnerships with diverse institutions and associations, and may involve being active on social media forums, leveraging professional networks and industry contacts, offsite visits or cold calls, or other creative active sourcing methods useful in locating and connecting with qualified individuals, particularly those outside of NRDC’s typical reach.
  • Collaborate with HR Partner team to mitigate any risks and ensure compliance standards and adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures regarding the employment process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of search progress. Maintain the integrity of data in the ATS system and manage system tasks and action items for aligned client groups and assigned requisitions.
  • Remain abreast of current trends and best practices in the Talent Acquisition field and help the organization implement and streamline recruitment processes.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned that support HR objectives, NRDC’s mission, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • May assist Director with vendor management of outsourced recruiting partner relationships.
  • May assist Director with the assignment and management of job requisition portfolios, or with mentorship, coaching, and guidance of internal recruitment team.
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional HR or recruiting experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with in-house direct recruitment including exempt and senior level roles. Experience in a recruitment leadership role helpful.
  • Experience with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Talent space is highly desirable.
  • Experience recruiting in the non-profit environmental or advocacy industries preferred.
  • Experience with ATS systems and technology with familiarity to run reports and create metrics & dashboards.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing tools
  • HR Certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and is highly organized and efficient.
  • Multi-tasking, flexibility, and ability to pivot when workload or directions have changed.
  • Experience and confidence in facilitating meetings with Senior Management and working closely with HR Business Partners and the HR Leadership team.
  • Familiar with project management related structure and knowledge is highly desirable.

We offer competitive salaries,
excellent benefits , and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $120,000 to $135,000.

Since March 2020, NRDC’s offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will be associated with one of our offices, but until circumstances allow us to re-open, we will continue to support NRDCers with remote working arrangements.
