The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations. Position Summary
:

NRDC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to work with the Workplace Strategy department in our New York office. The department is responsible for a diverse portfolio including space planning real estate, workplace management and strategy, security, capital projects, sustainability, travel, and procurement across all NRDC office locations. Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Real Estate and Workplace Strategy, the Senior Project Manager will lead the coordination and oversight of operational initiatives supporting the mission of NRDC and the Workplace Strategy team. The successful candidate will be passionate about having a diverse workload, foster working collaboratively, able to solve problems and face challenges creatively, display strong communication and organizational skills, and exemplify institutional and team mission, goals, and values.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight on key responsibilities on project timelines, budgets, long-term maintenance plans for the owned facilities, and other policies and procedures
  • Work closely with Managing Director and Deputy Director of Workplace Strategy to strategize and plan overarching projects for the portfolio ensuring that they are on track and meeting goals
  • Develop, implement, and administer capital projects
  • Collaborate with Workplace Strategy team on sustainable initiatives and projects fostering cooperation with internal stakeholders
  • Lead Workplace Strategy team on institutional projects related to hybrid work environment, emerging remote working trends, and temporary workforce
  • Liaise with the Workplace Strategy staff across all office locations, Operations teams (IT, HR, and Finance), and other departments on projects to establish resources for projects
  • Develop and implement tools to track project performance, data collection and analysis, performance indicators, and create reports as needed
  • Implement and encourage best practices for change management and risk management
  • Identify project risks and opportunities; provide resolutions
  • Proactively identify opportunities to adapt and streamline processes
  • Create and draft communication to stakeholders regarding project updates
  • Coach, mentor, and create a motivational environment for all team members, colleagues, and peers
Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in facilities and/or operations and project management
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience implementing sustainability initiatives
  • 5+ years knowledge of capital and operating budget planning, execution, and reporting
  • Excellent project management skills, communication skills, analytical abilities, and ability to collaborate
  • Demonstrated experience in managing 24/7 operations in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment is preferable
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with contract management, procurement, and negotiation
  • Ability to plan and manage within budget and timeline
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of change management best practices
  • Strong knowledge of risk management best practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Access)
  • Proficient in Project Management software (Asana, MS Project)
  • Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service and people skills
  • Strong organizational skills and collaborative management style

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and commensurate with skills and experience. Job grade for this role is Solves 4 with a salary ranging from $120,000 to $130,000. Internal equity considerations and the average salary of the peer range will be reviewed before making a final offer.
