NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. NRDC is seeking a Recruiter to work with the Human Resources team, headquartered in our New York office.

Position Summary

The Recruiter will work closely with the HR Partner and hiring team to develop and execute on an effective strategy to attract and staff a portfolio of open positions in the institution. The Recruiter will work with leadership to enhance and improve efforts to build a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the organization. The successful candidate should excel working in a highly collaborative environment and offer partnership and innovation to the Talent Management efforts and HR organizational goals. This position reports to the Director, Talent Acquisition.
  • Primarily responsible for effectively and efficiently performing all related activities for the full lifecycle of recruitment for open positions, including sourcing, screening, assessing and presenting high caliber talent pool selection, guiding managers through interview and selection, communicating and facilitating interview panels, negotiating and delivering employment offers and shepherding transition to onboarding, all while advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion at every stage throughout the process.
  • Partners with hiring managers to build effective sourcing strategies that will diversify our workforce and manage candidate/manager experience and expectations through a thorough understanding of programmatic needs of each client group.
  • Collaborate with HR Partner team to mitigate any risks and ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Research on network outreach opportunities, potential new vendors, and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.
  • Ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures regarding the employment process.
  • Responsible for managing ATS system tasks and action items for aligned client groups and assigned requisitions.
  • Participate in additional projects as assigned that support HR objectives, NRDC’s mission, and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Human Resources, or related professional experience preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have 4 – 7 years of professional experience; with a minimum of 3 years of in-house direct recruitment experience.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and is highly organized and efficient.
  • Multi-tasking, flexibility, and ability to pivot when workload or directions have changed.
  • Experience with ATS such as iCIMS, or similar with familiarity to run reports and create metrics & dashboards.
  • Experience with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Talent space is highly desirable.
  • Experience and confidence in facilitating meetings with Senior Management and working closely with HR Business Partners or HR Leadership team helpful.
  • HR Certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP helpful.

We offer competitive salaries,
excellent benefits , and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $90,000 to $100,000.

Since March 2020, NRDC’s offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will be associated with one of our offices, but until circumstances allow us to re-open, we will continue to support NRDCers with remote working arrangements.
