NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. Position Summary
NRDC seeks a Membership Staff Assistant to work in our New York office and provide administrative support to the Membership Department, as well as provide customer service to NRDC Members.
The Assistant's time would be dedicated to handling a wide range of duties that enable smooth program functioning, including:

  • Respond to Membership inquiries via telephone and e-mail daily.
  • Monitor 3 voicemail inboxes and elevate inquiries to the correct staff member.
  • Update Member records and interactions on Salesforce.
  • Process credit card donations and distribute daily donation reports.
  • Review and submit contracts for Membership department.
  • Distribute Business Reply mail for the Development and Membership departments.
  • Provide personal support to Assistant Director of Membership and Member Services team.
  • Organize and maintain Membership Mail samples and Newsletters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
  • Strong customer or member services skills.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Prior administrative assistant experience preferred.
  • Keen interest in nature and the environment a plus.
  • Enthusiastic, warm attitude with a strong interest in assisting people.
  • Knowledge of database programs and general computer facility required (Windows Office including Word, and Excel).
  • Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree is highly desired.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. For this position, the salary is $46,400 to $58,000. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
