National Grid is hiring a IT/ OT Engineer to work across ICT and Cyber teams.
The IT / OT Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments within a critical infrastructure setting. The role bridges enterprise IT and operational systems, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, compliant, and fit for purpose, while supporting day-to-day operational needs.
The role will be split between On-site at Richborough Convertor station and home working with regular collaboration across ICT and Cyber teams. there will be an expectation for travel between UK / Belgian sites and also National Grid Offices in Warwick.
What you'll do
A competitive salary between £47,442.00 - £56,173.50 per annum– dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. What you'll do
- Provide hands-on support for IT and OT systems across operational sites.
- Support business-critical systems with a focus on availability and safety.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly system checks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests across IT and OT domains.
- Support OT environments and IT/OT interfaces.
- Assist with lifecycle management of OT hardware and infrastructure.
- Work with vendors during OT upgrades, outages, and planned works.
- Support compliance with NIS, CAF, and internal security requirements.
- Follow secure configuration and change control processes.
- Assist with audits, assurance, and evidence gathering.
- Experience in IT supporting roles.
- Exposure to OT systems or industrial environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networks.
- Ability to work in dynamic, operational environments.
- Full driving license.
- Experience in critical infrastructure or regulated industries.
- Awareness of NIS, CAF, or similar regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of OT security principles and IT/OT segregation.
- Calm and methodical under pressure.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Comfortable working independently while aligned with central ICT teams.
- Professional and approachable manner.
