PMO Programme Planner
Job Introduction
We’re excited to offer a new opportunity for a PMO Programme Planner to join our team, reporting to the ASTI PMO Lead.
In this pivotal role, you’ll drive the strategic planning and prioritisation of all ASTI projects across Field Operations. You’ll collaborate closely with regional teams and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure regional work programmes are effectively prioritised, sequenced, and aligned with our commitments to the NGET Strategic Infrastructure team.
As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a blend of office and home working. It is a full‑time position, though we are open to discussing flexible working patterns.
We offer the flexibility to be based at one of our locations within the East Midland, West Midlands, South West or South Wales. Some travel to other sites within our four licence areas will be neeed.
Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Main Responsibilities
- Gather, consolidate and continuously update the priority list of allocated ASTI projects incorporating new input and delays as required.
- Proactively collaborate with stakeholders including ASTI Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to drive strategic project prioritisation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Working with ASTI Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to create a comprehensive work programme that matches stakeholder and business needs, taking into account project timelines, budget constraints and resource availability shared by Project Managers.
- Assist in defining project resourcing strategy, working closely with Project Managers to optimise resource allocation across various projects and teams in alignment with business priorities.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams across NGED, ensuring alignment on project priorities, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Collaborate with peers supporting other regions to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the ASTI programme planning process, implementing best practices to enhance overall programme delivery.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in programme/project planning within the utilities or energy sectorIdeally gained within capital projects and preferably within electricity distribution
- Proficiency in project planning tools and software, such as:
- Primavera P6
- Microsoft Project
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and use data to support effective decision‑making
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and engage confidently with colleagues at all levels
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Operations, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred or equivalent experience.
