Technical Code Change Analyst
About The Role
NESO (National Energy System Operator) are looking for an Analyst to join our Technical Codes Change team. The team supports the development and maintenance of the Technical Codes that underpin the operation of the electricity system, including the Grid Code, STC (System Operator Transmission Owner Code) and SQSS (Security and Quality of Supply Standard).
The Technical Codes Change Analyst will support the development and delivery of Code modifications, ensuring they align with NESO objectives and deliver value for consumers and system security. The role involves working with internal and external stakeholders across industry to understand issues, develop solutions and support efficient implementation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional to develop knowledge of the energy industry, regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement, while contributing to the transition to a net zero energy system.
This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick (at least 1 day a month in the Warwick office), and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities
- Deliver code modification activity: Support the development and delivery of Grid Code, STC and SQSS modifications, ensuring outputs meet agreed objectives and timelines.
- Support stakeholder engagement: Work with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. Ofgem, TOs, DNOs, generators) to contribute to discussions, meetings and workgroups.
- Develop analysis and documentation: Assist in analysing issues, drafting modification proposals, supporting documentation and contributing to reports and meeting materials.
- Maintain governance and processes: Follow established Code modification processes, maintain accurate records, and ensure documents and trackers are kept up to date.
- Collaborate across NESO: Engage with internal teams (e.g. Legal, Regulation, Operational teams, Corporate Affairs) to support delivery and understand implementation considerations.
- Contribute to team and personal development: Proactively build knowledge of the energy sector, Code frameworks and NESO processes, and contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned.
