Engineering Compliance Manager
About The Role
Network Operability is accountable for developing the electricity system operability strategy and analysis capability, providing technical advice to real-time operation and network planning, developing long-term operability products and solutions, and enabling the connection of new solutions to the network while ensuring compliance.
As the manager in Network Operability, you will lead a team of 8 to 12 power system engineers to deliver licence obligations and NESO1 activities driven by zero-carbon operation, network development needs and industry landscape change.
This role leads engineering compliance activities across existing and new connections, supports industry compliance with the Grid Code, and contributes to the development of models, code changes and technical solutions needed for a changing electricity system.
The managers will provide leadership for their relevant workstream with accountability for setting direction, driving delivery and landing practical solutions at pace.
This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

A competitive salary of Up to £80,000pa dependent on experience and capabilityAs well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

Key Accountabilities
As a Compliance Manager, you will:

- Act as a fully engaged member of the Network Operability leadership team to support successful delivery of the NESO1 business plan.
- Build strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Develop team members to drive performance and create strong career progression pathways.
- Manage all existing and new connections through the Grid Code compliance process.
- Advise and guide industry participants on Grid Code compliance requirements.
- Lead Grid Code modifications to keep the compliance process fit for purpose.
- Develop dynamic models and manage engineering compliance for commercial services.
- Deliver change and mitigate complex risks for the overall benefit of the organisation and its stakeholders.
- Set strategic direction and drive delivery of your team, owning outcomes in a complex policy and delivery environment.
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex problems, cutting through ambiguity and bringing together technical, commercial and policy perspectives to land workable solutions.
- Translate energy policy into operational reality, shaping mechanisms that are credible for industry and deliverable for the electricity system.
- Balance competing objectives, including system operability, delivery speed, fairness, consumer outcomes and government priorities.
- Provide clear advice and recommendations to senior NESO leadership, ensuring decisions are well‑evidenced and clearly framed.
