Senior Project Manager – Energy Solutions (Performance Contracting)

Western PA / Eastern OH / Upstate NY Region | Hybrid | On-Site Project Presence Required

We are partnering with a leading energy solutions provider to identify a Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of complex, large-scale energy and infrastructure projects across the Western Pennsylvania region and surrounding markets.

This is a high-impact, client-facing role responsible for full lifecycle project delivery within a performance contracting (ESCO) environment, supporting public sector energy efficiency and central plant infrastructure programs.

Overview

The Senior Project Manager will own the end-to-end execution of mechanical, HVAC, and central plant projects, ensuring delivery from design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.

This role serves as the central point of coordination across engineering, construction partners, and clients, with full accountability for project performance, financial outcomes, contract compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle project execution from development and design handoff through construction and closeout within a performance contracting (ESCO) environment
  • Manage the delivery of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with contractually guaranteed performance outcomes
  • Oversee implementation of multi-scope energy conservation measures (ECMs) including HVAC, central plant systems, controls, and mechanical infrastructure upgrades
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams during project development and post-Investment Grade Audit (IGA) execution
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and field teams across multiple active projects
  • Own project financials including budgets, forecasting, change orders, billings, and overall margin performance
  • Ensure schedule adherence, cost control, and proactive risk mitigation across all phases of delivery
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear communication on progress, costs, timelines, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM-385, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Project Management experience within a performance contracting / ESCO environment
  • Proven experience managing large-scale mechanical, HVAC, and central plant projects from development through completion
  • Strong understanding of energy conservation measures (ECMs) and performance-based delivery models
  • Experience supporting or executing projects following Investment Grade Audits (IGAs)
  • Demonstrated success managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and financial performance
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • PMP, CCM, DBIA, or similar certifications preferred
  • Must be located in PA, Eastern OH, or Upstate NY, with the ability to be on-site several days per week based on project needs
