Senior Energy Engineer/ Project Development Engineer HYBRID / MA / RI Area Our Client collaborates with colleges, universities, and Multi-family to engineer sustainable energy efficiency solutions. They partner with colleges and universities to plan, engineer, and implement carbon reduction and energy efficiency solutions. We partner with clients to turn existing facilities into higher performing buildings, maximize financial returns, and build integrated behavioral programs. Their unique integration of engagement programs into the energy efficiency projects allows their clients to maximize the value of infrastructure improvements while leading the way on campus wide sustainability.
Our Client is seeking qualified Energy Engineers or Project Development Engineers with excellent growth potential.
This individual will be a mechanical or energy engineer who has experience in leading engineering projects, energy efficiency project development, and decarbonization work.
Overview: We seek a highly motivated mechanical or energy engineer who has experience managing engineering projects, energy efficiency project development, and decarbonization work. The ideal candidate can develop low-carbon HVAC renewal solutions, efficiency measures and produce other project-related deliverables to support our planning, engineering and construction teams. This person can thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with little direction, think creatively to suggest new and innovative approaches, and oversee and manage development work by both internal project development engineering staff and external partners. Projects our Client deliver vary depending on customer needs. Examples of past projects that this person may be tasked with include decarbonization studies, boiler retirement and electrification, enabling buildings to accept new low-carbon energy from central plants, chiller and air handling replacements, heat recovery solutions, and ventilation optimization.
Conduct field investigations of existing building energy systems to identify and develop opportunities for energy- or carbon-reducing capital projects, such as upgrades to HVAC systems, energy efficiency measures, and replacement of fossil fuel based systems with all-electric based systems.
Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships through sales and marketing efforts, including conference attendance.
Collaborate and communicate constructively with owners to identify challenges and needs, and brainstorm solutions to their energy and carbon reduction goals.
Prepare concept-level drawings, sketches, reports, and/or presentations for use in communicating project concepts to customers, consultants and/or subcontractors.
Coordinate with Company’s sub-consulting engineers in performing design engineering and other engineering analyses of projects.
Develop cost estimates of proposed efficiency improvements, working with equipment suppliers and installation subcontractors.
Project development engineering to effectively and efficiently develop projects from conceptual/planning phase to contract-ready work scopes.
Maintain a thorough understanding of energy efficiency, infrastructure renewal, and clean energy opportunities to offer customers.
Maintain contacts with equipment suppliers and sales representatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or related experience
5–10 years of experience with energy efficiency and/or building HVAC/MEP engineering
Field project management experience
Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules simultaneously.
Must be physically able to perform field surveys, including extensive standing/walking and climbing ladder.
