Lecturer in Master of Environmental Sustainability Science

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for the position of Lecturer, Master of Environmental Sustainability Science at the Asian School of the Environment (ASE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.

The Master of Environmental Sustainability Science is an intensive, one year, coursework-based degree at the ASE, NTU, designed to equip graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills to address pressing environmental

challenges. The program combines rigorous core courses, hands on project learning, and specialized elective modules to prepare students for leadership roles in academia, government, and industry.

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Lecturer to oversee the MSc in ESS program as a Program Coordinator (PC). The PC will work with the Academic Director to oversee the Master’s program quality and ensure a positive student experience. The PC will be expected to teach core and project-based courses, and contribute additional specialized coursework in their area of expertise. A key element of this role is cultivating partnerships with colleagues across academia and with industry stakeholders to secure engaging capstone project opportunities for students. The PC will also champion diversity and inclusion within the program and serve as a visible ambassador for environmental sustainability at NTU.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected To

  • Program Leadership & Administration
  • Provide strategic direction and academic leadership for the MSc in ESS program.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, curriculum development, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee admissions criteria, student advising, and program evaluations.
  • Manage program budget and resources in collaboration with the Academic Director and Asian School of the Environment.
  • Teaching & Curriculum Development
  • Teach one core, foundational course.
  • Lead one project based seminar/ capstone course guiding students through real world sustainability projects.
  • Develop and deliver elective courses in specialized areas of expertise (e.g., climate adaptation, sustainable resource management, environmental data analytics).
  • Mentor students on research methods, professional development, and career planning.
  • Industry & Academic Engagement
  • Establish and maintain collaborative networks with partner institutions.
  • Cultivate relationships with industry, government, and non profit organizations to identify and secure capstone project partners, internships, and guest speakers.
  • Represent the program at conferences, workshops, and outreach events.
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Develop outreach strategies to recruit and support students from underrepresented groups in environmental science.
