The Opportunity
We have a new opportunity for an experienced energy consultant to support us grow our hydrogen capability within an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects within the built environment.
With the continued expansion of our Energy business, we are looking for a recognised industry leader who will continue to accelerate the growth of our Industrial Decarbonisation and Hydrogen business. The individual will be responsible for the growth of our business through the creation of a diverse team and the delivery of a portfolio of strategic and influential multi-disciplinary projects providing a range of high value advisory and technical expertise from research and strategy, pre-FEED through to start-up stage to a range of public and private sector clients.
As an Associate, you will work as part of a peer group of specialists and project managers, supported by a strong and diverse team of consultants and senior leaders. You will be closely networked with Arup's national clean molecules, hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation and energy teams and will have access to a breadth and depth of specialist expertise.
The individual will work alongside other energy business leaders, experts and specialists across Arup helping shape and deliver some of the most important infrastructure decarbonisation and hydrogen programmes facing the UK energy market. The role requires an individual who excels in building teams, technical excellence and project delivery, plus enjoys both business development and securing new work.
The role requires strong content knowledge in the field of energy and climate change, together with excellent project co-ordination, report writing and communication skills. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with others. An appreciation of sustainability policy and agendas and interrelationships between environment, social trends, health and well-being is desirable, in support of our integrated and multi-disciplinary offer to clients. Responsibilities include project leadership for the delivery of energy and decarbonisation advisory services, as well as contributing to the day-to-day management of a growing team - resourcing and pastoral care, advising on recruitment and business development.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for individuals with the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's university degree in a relevant energy related discipline and you should be chartered in a relevant professional institution.
- Knowledge of current UK/Wales energy policy and legislation
- Leading experience and track record in hydrogen within the context of the decarbonisation of the whole energy system
- Experience of working within a commercial environment (bids and projects), including client liaison, programme and time management, quality assurance and financial/budget control
- Experience working in a relevant field of consulting. Other relevant experience in a specialist advisory role will be considered.
