About Munich Climate Week

https://www.munichclimateweek.com/

Munich Climate Week (MCW) is a city-wide initiative that turns one week into a concentrated wave of climate action across Munich - bringing together leading research institutions, businesses, cultural venues, civil society, and citizens around a single question: how do we accelerate the transition, together, in our city?

The program spans keynote panels, expert workshops, hands-on community formats, cultural interventions, and partner-led events - designed to reach the people of Munich across science, policy, business, culture, and grassroots movements. Our goal is to make climate action visible, accessible, and contagious for the whole city.

Behind MCW is a committed core team working closely with major institutional and grassroots partners. We move fast, iterate constantly, and care deeply about quality - both in substance and in how we show up publicly.

Partner Manager (Volunteer)

As Partner Manager, you own a portfolio of relationships from first message through to handover and stay close to partners as they become part of the MCW community.

The three tracks

We are looking for Partner Managers across three distinct portfolios. Each requires a different profile:

Enterprise & Corporates (large corporates, banks, universities, industry leaders)

You are comfortable in executive rooms and with senior institutional stakeholders. Your communication is formal, precise, and high-polished. You are patient with long cycles and multi-stakeholder sign-off, and credible in high-stakes conversations.

NGOs, Public & Policy (NGOs, associations, public bodies, policy actors)

German is a must, native or near-native. You have deep local knowledge of the Munich and Bavarian ecosystem and understand how public bodies and associations move. You take a relationship-first, trust-building approach.

Startups & Scale-ups (startups, mid-sized companies, founders, operators)

You are quick to respond, informal, and direct. You speak the language of driven founders, know the hype, and can cut through it. High-energy, you iterate fast and keep things moving.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage your partner portfolio from first outreach through to confirmed collaboration.
  • Run calls, follow-ups, and negotiations end-to-end.
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities and flag them to the Partnerships & Sponsorships Lead.
  • Stay close to partners: support them, connect them, and make them feel the MCW difference.
  • Spar closely and regularly with the Partnerships & Sponsorships Lead, come with solutions not just problems, and proactively flag blockers and bring ideas.
  • Track your pipeline cleanly so nothing drops.

What We’re Looking For

  • High agency. You do not wait for permission, you move things forward.
  • Strong communication. You can write outreach that lands and lead calls that convert.
  • Commercial instincts. You are comfortable negotiating and asking for support.
  • Operator mindset. You track cleanly, run follow ups, and protect the pipeline.
  • Systems brain. You naturally build templates, cadences, and automations to scale what works.
  • Stakeholder readiness. You can work with influential people across sectors and keep it professional and warm.
  • Bonus: any experience in partnerships, sales, fundraising, sponsorship, consulting, customer success, ops, or events.

Who You Will Work With

  • You will spar weekly with the Partnerships Lead and work closely with an A Team of founders, investors, and researchers with backgrounds across Oxbridge, Berkeley, Stanford, UN, WFP, CDTM and WEF Global Shapers.
  • Our leadership team has been featured across Forbes, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
  • We operate like a startup. High trust. High ownership. Fast iteration. High standards.

Why volunteer

  • Be part of the foundational team bringing Munich Climate Week to life.
  • Engage with thousands of decision-makers, investors, and changemakers shaping the future.
  • Build real leverage through partnerships, systems, and stakeholder management.
  • Steep learning curve, fast iteration, and building credibility across the Munich climate ecosystem and beyond by shipping.
