Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI Climate Research & Solutions, part of MSCI Inc., is seeking to expand its Client Coverage Team with a commercially driven and highly strategic Executive Director, to lead climate risk solution sales within the EMEA banking segment. The role will focus on deepening and expanding relationships with major European banks, including G-SIBs, national champions, and regional institutions across the region.

As an Executive Director, you will drive the commercial success of MSCI’s climate analytics, climate scenario stress-testing models, transition solutions (energy transition framework, financed-emissions, etc.) and physical risk & nature/biodiversity solutions, as well as emerging location-based risk and opportunity assessments leveraging geospatial intelligence. You will support banks in embedding climate considerations into credit underwriting, portfolio risk monitoring, treasury and ALM strategies, capital planning, ICAAP, risk appetite frameworks, liability-side structuring, etc.

This role is designed for a senior commercial leader with deep knowledge of the European banking ecosystem, a strong understanding of how banks operate across risk, finance, and front-office functions, and expertise in climate risk regulation and supervisory expectations.

Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Commercial Growth & Relationship Leadership

  • Own and exceed revenue, renewal, and profitability targets across the EMEA banking portfolio.
  • Serve as a senior commercial partner to major banks, advising on adoption of climate risk analytics and regulatory-aligned methodologies.
  • Expand relationships with existing Tier-1 and Tier-2 banks, identifying strategic cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across climate product lines.
  • Lead new business development across EMEA banking groups, tailoring engagement to evolving supervisory and risk-management expectations.
  • Act as a trusted expert on climate risk modelling, climate stress testing (ECB, PRA, EBA), financed emissions (PCAF), and transition/physical risk/nature risk integration across banking activities.

Sales Execution, Pipeline Leadership & Forecasting

  • Build and oversee a sophisticated enterprise sales pipeline aligned with long-cycle decision-making within major banks.
  • Deliver high-quality forecasting, commercial reporting, and executive-level revenue planning.
  • Use Salesforce effectively for campaign management, intelligence gathering, and strategic account planning.

Market Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Represent MSCI at senior-level banking, risk, regulatory, and climate finance events across EMEA.
  • Work closely with Client Service, Legal, Marketing, Product Management, Climate Research, and Finance to ensure a seamless client experience and robust delivery.
  • Provide ongoing insights on climate-related regulatory developments, including ECB climate expectations, PRA CBES, EBA guidelines, and CSRD/ISSB implications for banks.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, bank-specific materials, and sector-focused sales collateral.

Your Skills And Experience That Will Help You Excel

  • 7+ years of senior commercial experience, ideally selling risk analytics, climate solutions, or financial data technology to banks.
  • Deep understanding of the European banking ecosystem, including risk management, treasury, capital planning, credit processes, and ALM—across both the asset and liability sides.
  • Strong climate risk expertise: familiarity with climate scenario thinking, climate stress-testing practices, PCAF methodologies, physical and transition risk modelling, and supervisory expectations for banks. Familiarity with geospatial analytics and nature/biodiversity topics is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to lead complex enterprise sales cycles with major financial institutions.
  • Strategic client-engagement skills, with the ability to interpret banking workflows, regulatory constraints, and climate-risk integration needs.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and French is required; German is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of EMEA financial regulation and supervisory bodies, including ECB, PRA, EBA, ACPR, and FINMA, is highly desirable.
