CLIMATE VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST
Move on Afrika is seeking a highly qualified Climate Vulnerability Assessment Expert to lead the climate resilience and environmental analysis on Trade Assignment. The expert will ensure that climate change, CO₂ emissions, and socio-economic impacts are fully integrated into the Assignment
As our Climate Vulnerability Assessment Expert, you will:
· Conduct a climate vulnerability assessment, identifying exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity of infrastructure, logistics, and communities.
· Perform a carbon footprint analysis aligned with low-emission and climate-resilient trade strategies.
· Lead the climate change mitigation and resilience components of the SESA.
· Evaluate environmental and socio-economic impacts of proposed digital and infrastructure interventions.
· Ensure integration of green logistics practices and climate-resilient infrastructure planning.
· Apply GIS, climate modeling, and participatory approaches to generate robust datasets.
· Incorporate gender, youth, and disability inclusion into climate vulnerability analysis.
· Develop recommendations for climate-resilient trade, green jobs, and community benefits.
· Contribute to a sustainability roadmap covering technological, environmental, and socio-economic measures.
· Engage government, private sector, and community stakeholders to ensure climate resilience
· Participate in technical defense sessions, presenting methodologies, findings, and recommendations to evaluation panels.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Master's degree in Climate Science, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, or related field.
· Minimum 7–10 years of professional experience in climate vulnerability assessments, resilience programming, or environmental risk analysis.
· Proven expertise in climate modeling tools, GIS, and carbon footprint analysis.
· Strong understanding of global and national climate policy frameworks (IPCC, UNFCCC, DRC climate strategies).
· Experience in strategic environmental and social assessments (SESA) and cost-benefit analysis of climate interventions.
· Demonstrated ability to integrate climate resilience into infrastructure and trade projects.
· Excellent communication skills for technical and policy audiences.
· In-depth knowledge of the political, social, and economic context of the Democratic Republic of Congo is required, with preferably experience working in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
· Excellent analytical, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
· Strong communication skills (oral and written) in French and English.
