Technical Onboarding Asset Manager (Solar + BESS)
Contract | $80–$120/hr | Renewable Energy | Solar & Battery Storage
A global logistics real estate and energy platform is hiring a Technical Onboarding Asset Manager to support the transition of distributed solar and battery storage assets from construction into operations.
This role sits at the critical transition point between EPC delivery and Asset Management. You will validate commissioning documentation, track turnover milestones, and ensure assets are fully tested, documented, and ready for long-term operation.
You will directly impact how quickly projects move from PTO to stable operations by identifying gaps early, driving resolution, and validating system performance before handoff.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Documentation Review
- Review Cold Commissioning (Cold Cx) documentation, provide comments, track deficiencies, and drive resolution through approval
- Review Hot Commissioning (Hot Cx) and performance testing documentation through final validation
- Validate DAS, metering, and system communication to confirm stability and reporting accuracy
- Work with monitoring platforms such as AlsoEnergy (PowerTrack), Athena (BESS), and Harksys
Milestone Tracking and Turnover
- Manage and maintain turnover milestone tracking within Smartsheet or similar systems
- Coordinate with internal teams, EPCs, and vendors to verify completion of all milestones
- Lead the review and formal sign-off of Asset Management handoff requirements
Issue Tracking and Closeout
- Maintain commissioning issue logs and track resolution to closure
- Identify gaps in documentation, system performance, or coordination and drive resolution
- Ensure all turnover documentation packages are complete and validated
Asset Onboarding Support
- Review closeout packages, including tests, punch lists, and monitoring setup
- Support early-stage performance monitoring and stabilization post-PTO
- Assist with onboarding processes, documentation management, and process improvements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in solar and/or battery energy storage (BESS) projects
- Direct experience with commissioning, project closeout, or asset onboarding
- Strong understanding of PV and BESS systems , including monitoring and performance validation
- Experience reviewing commissioning documentation and driving issue resolution
- Familiarity with DAS platforms and monitoring systems (AlsoEnergy preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and timelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across EPC, commissioning, or asset management teams
- Exposure to BESS platforms and performance testing
- Experience with turnover processes and asset handoff to operations
- Strong documentation, tracking, and coordination skills
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $80–$120/hr
Compensation is determined based on location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
