Contracting Lead
We are seeking an experienced Contracting Lead to join our clients Energy Storage & Infrastructure Development team, supporting the execution and management of complex agreements vital to growing our U.S. battery storage portfolio. In this role, you will serve as project manager and process owner for contract workflows throughout the development and investment phases. You will collaborate closely with Legal, Development, and Investment teams to drive the drafting, review, and execution of development-stage contracts, including MIPAs, PSAs, site control agreements, and vendor MSAs. You will also play a key role in energy storage M&A transactions, ensuring seamless coordination between internal teams, external counsel, stakeholders, and counterparties.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage contract workflows related to development and M&A efforts, ensuring alignment between Legal, Development, and Investment Services teams.
- Serve as a central point of coordination for the drafting, review, redlining, negotiation, and execution of key contract types, including:
- Membership Interest Purchase Agreements (MIPAs)
- Purchase and Sale Agreements (PSAs)
- Land leases, options, easements, and access agreements
- Vendor Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
- Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Joint Development Agreements (JDAs)
- Select procurement and construction support contracts
- Coordinate with internal Legal team and external counsel to ensure contract terms reflect project needs and risk tolerances.
- Track contract obligations, execution status, and approval workflows.
- Support contract-related diligence and documentation in energy storage acquisitions.
- Facilitate version control, document archiving, and internal reviews for all relevant agreements.
- Provide contracting milestone updates to the Director of Development and other internal stakeholders.
- Help establish scalable contract tracking and reporting processes across the energy storage portfolio.
Building Blocks for Success :
- 5-10 years of experience in contracts, legal operations, project development, or M&A transaction support.
- Strong understanding of contract structures commonly used in energy development, including site control, acquisition, and commercial vendor agreements.
- Proven ability to coordinate across legal, technical, and commercial teams to advance contracts efficiently and accurately.
- Detail-oriented project management mindset, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience supporting M&A transaction execution, especially as it relates to contracting workstreams.
- Comfort managing multiple agreements concurrently with shifting timelines and priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in renewable energy or infrastructure sectors, especially in energy storage or solar.
- Exposure to joint development or co-investment structures.
- Background in paralegal, legal operations, or commercial transactions.
