Morson Edge is working exclusively with Nordex to recruit a Project Manager to lead the delivery of Puke Kapo Hau Wind Farm, located west of Dunedin on New Zealand’s South Island.

The project represents a major milestone for Nordex as its first wind farm in New Zealand, establishing the foundation for the company’s continued growth in the market.

Puke Kapo Hau will comprise 40 wind turbines and forms the Stage 2 expansion of the existing Mahinerangi wind farm. Once complete, the combined development will have approximately 228 MW of capacity, making it New Zealand’s largest wind farm.


About The Role


The Project Manager will take a leading role in the successful delivery of Nordex’s scope on Puke Kapo Hau, overseeing the project across its construction, installation, commissioning and handover phases.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage key client, contractor and internal interfaces to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with Nordex’s contractual requirements.

The role will have a strong on-site presence, with approximately 70% of your time spent at the project site near Dunedin. The remaining time will offer flexibility to work from the office and from home, depending on project requirements.

This is a significant opportunity to lead the delivery of Nordex’s first New Zealand project and play an important role in establishing the company’s presence in the local market.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the delivery of Nordex’s project scope from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
  • Take ownership of project programme, budget, quality, safety and contractual performance.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, logistics, construction, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Lead and support the project team, ensuring clear responsibilities and effective communication.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and key project stakeholders.
  • Oversee contractors, suppliers and other delivery partners.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Work closely with commercial and contracts teams to manage variations, claims and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with Nordex standards, processes and project governance requirements.
  • Provide regular reporting to regional and global leadership.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Demonstrated experience managing the delivery of large-scale construction, energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong project management capability across programme, cost, risk, contracts and stakeholder management.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and contractors.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple interfaces and competing priorities.
  • Renewable energy, power generation or major infrastructure experience is highly regarded.
  • Previous wind farm delivery experience would be advantageous.
