About the Director of Quality position:
We seek an experienced quality leader to establish and operate a world-class manufacturing quality operation for Mojave Energy Systems. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will build from the ground floor a comprehensive quality management system that ensures the highest standards of product reliability, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. The Director will play a critical role in scaling manufacturing operations while maintaining uncompromising quality standards for our cutting-edge liquid desiccant air conditioning systems. Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead the manufacturing quality function, including the development of quality policies, procedures, and systems aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Define and implement comprehensive quality assurance and quality control processes across all manufacturing operations at our South Carolina facility
- Develop and manage quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting systems to track product performance, defect rates, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct design verification and validation activities to ensure products meet all technical specifications and customer requirements
- Participate in and provide input to Product Development activities (phase gate reviews, design reviews, DFMEA, etc) with the goal of driving quality into the furthest upstream activities
- Participate in and provide input to Manufacturing Process development activities, such as PFMEA, work instruction creation and updates, and new equipment run-off and qualification
- Manage supplier quality programs, including supplier audits, part qualification, and ongoing performance monitoring
- Lead investigation and resolution of quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Work with external parties on quality-related certifications (UL, energy efficiency, etc.)[RE1]
- Build and mentor a quality team, establishing organizational structures and talent development programs
- Interface with manufacturing, engineering, sales, and leadership to ensure quality is embedded across all functions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field, with 10+ years of progressive quality management experience in manufacturing environments -or- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven track record establishing quality functions and systems in early-stage or growth-stage manufacturing companies
- Experience with quality management software and data analytics tools
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE), statistical process control (SPC), and other advanced quality methodologies
- Demonstrated expertise in supplier quality management and supply chain quality integration
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO 9001
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence across all organizational levels
- Ability to work cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, manufacturing staff, and leadership teams
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with experience conducting complex root cause analyses
- Leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements for manufactured equipment (NEC, UL, energy efficiency standards, etc.) is a plus
Expected compensation:
· Base salary $155,000 - $200,000
· Equity award (4 year vest) on hire. Equity represents a significant component of total compensation
