Buyer
The Buyer manages the full procurement lifecycle for critical data center components, including sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and purchase order execution. This role builds strong vendor relationships, drives cost savings, and ensures compliance with procurement policies while optimizing inventory levels and supporting budgeting efforts. Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, logistics, and finance, the Buyer aligns procurement strategies with project timelines, identifies opportunities for cost and process improvements, and supports sustainability initiatives through responsible sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, purchase order management, and delivery tracking.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and lead time for critical data center components.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, industry regulations, and contractual agreements.
Supplier & Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and service level agreements to drive cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Monitor supplier performance, address issues proactively, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Inventory & Cost Optimization:
- Work closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory and costs.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through volume discounts, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing insights into procurement costs and market trends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure procurement aligns with data center project timelines and operational needs.
- Assist in developing procurement strategies for new data center builds, expansions, and equipment upgrades.
- Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing environmentally responsible materials and vendors.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
- 2 or more years of procurement experience preferably within data centers, construction, technology, or critical infrastructure industries.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Experience working with ERP and procurement systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
