Position Description

The Senior Product Engineer reports to the Engineering Supervisor and is located at the Calgary, AB facility. She/he works within the Engineering Department to lead the design of assigned Data Center cooling products. He or she is responsible for the supervision of assigned designers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of 1-2 engineers and 1-2 CAD designers, overseeing assignment of projects and progress of work. Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality results.
  • Execute assigned engineering launch activities for awarded business. This includes: completion of customer submittals with all required documentation, release of design and drawings for the product for prototype and production, successful completion of all customer and regulatory required testing for customer acceptance in the field.
  • Lead the change request and deviation process to address immediate manufacturing concerns. Manage from conception to implementation.
  • Contribute to VA/VE initiatives to reduce product cost and improve manufacturability of responsible products.
  • Address any customer field concerns by developing engineered solutions to solve the issue and prevent recurrence.
  • Evaluate and design electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials.
  • Assist the manufacturing team in developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Support team member development through training initiatives, mentorship programs, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Previous engineering leadership experience (1+ years)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Thermodynamics and Fluid dynamics
  • Experience with designing products for manufacturing at scale
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external personnel
  • Project management experience
  • High level of initiative and positive work ethic
  • Organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems and the ability to interpret FEA & CFD results
